MP lobbying for India - you can make all the difference! Since the UK election, hundreds of CSW supporters have written to their MPs welcoming them to their post and raising the issue of religious freedom. Read on to get involved with the next step in the conversation. Today we want you to lobby your MP about religiously-motivated violence in India as part of CSW’s Inclusive India campaign. In recent years, there has been an increase in religiously-motivated violence against minorities in India - the attacks in Orissa in 2008 being the worst outbreak of anti-Christian violence in post-independence India. There is an ongoing pattern of violence against Christians in several Indian states.
In a positive move, the Indian Government has shown a will to tackle the underlying issues, by introducing a bill to prevent, control and deal with the aftermath of religiously-motivated violence. But, the proposed bill lacks several important elements. We’ve been advocating for these to be addressed and now you too can play a part in shaping these important laws in India by keeping your MP aware of the situation. >>> Use our e-action to lobby your MP today
