Halls and rooms for hire

St Andrew’s has a number of halls and rooms which are available for hire at competitive rates when they are not in use for church activities. They are suitable for one-off events such as meetings, concerts, dinners or parties or for regular use. The available spaces include:

Rates vary depending on whether the use is daytime or evening or on the expected number of people, and discounts are given to regular users and to charitable events. The hourly rates for the Miles Hall range from £17.50 to £35.00, for the large Aitken Hall from £22.00 to £37.50 and for the smaller Tweddle Hall from £18.00 to £24.00. The Aitken Hall

This large hall (15m x 11.4m) can seat 170 when set out for a meeting, or 112 seated at tables of 8 for a meal. There is a large stage (5m x 3.6m) with theatre-style curtains, a projection screen and a grand piano. The floor is hardwood parquet and suitable for dancing or indoor sports.

The audio facilities include several microphone points and facilities to play CDs or cassette tapes. There is entry from the adjacent car park or from Northey Avenue. For catering, there is a well-equipped kitchen with a large cooker, dishwasher and coffee urn. The hall floor is marked with lines for badminton.

The Miles Hall

This older-style large hall (17m x 10.4m) can seat 150 when set out for a meeting, or 96 seated at tables of 8 for a meal. There is a raised dais with an upright piano. The floor is hardwood parquet and suitable for dancing or indoor sports.

The audio facilities include several microphone points. There is entry from Northey Avenue or from the rest of the premises. For refreshments, there is a small kitchen with a cooker, a coffee urn and sinks for dishwashing. The hall floor is marked with lines for badminton.

Tweddle Hall

The Tweddle Hall

This large room (11m x 7.3m) can seat 100 when set out for a meeting, or 72 seated at tables of 8 for a meal. There is a baby grand piano. The floor is hardwood parquet and suitable for dancing or indoor sports.

The audio facilities include several microphone points. Entry is from Northey Avenue via the hallway connecting to the rest of the premises. Either of the kitchens (see above) may be used subject to their not being needed by users of the other halls.

The Choir Vestry

This room (6.5m x 5.5m) is suitable for meetings of up to 20 people seated in rows, or 8 around a table. It contains an upright piano.

Church

The Church

The church is a large space (28.5m x 14.5m) seating 360 on the ground floor and an additional 150 in a gallery (14.5m x 8m) accessible by stairs. It is available for religious services and is also very suitable for large meetings or concerts, for which the seating may be moved to create space for an orchestra or choir.

There is a grand piano and a 3-manual Walker pipe organ. The large entrance vestibule may be used as a welcoming area.

Up-to-date audio facilities include a multi-channel audio mixer, facilities to play and record CDs, multiple microphone points and other inputs with fixed speakers and foldback speakers for a band. Video facilities include a fixed media projector and screen with inputs from a wall-mounted pan-and-zoom camera, PC points, DVD and there is also DVD recording and copying capability. There is an induction loop for the hearing-impaired.

The Chapel

The chapel is a small room (5.2m x 4.4m) seating 24. It is available for religious services and is also suitable for small meetings. There is an upright piano. Access to the chapel is either via the church or from a separate entrance in The Avenue.

Further information

The premises are available from Monday to Saturday from 8am until 11pm except during August. To enquire about availability and rates or to arrange to view the premises please email Stephen Riley, our Facilities Manager or call the office on 020 8642 5000.

Chairs, tables and cooking facilities with tableware for up to 120 are available. The three halls have public address systems with induction loops for the use of the hearing-impaired.

Parking on the premises is available for around 20 cars and ample on-street parking is available in the neighbouring streets.

The church is accessible for wheelchairs via a ramp from the street. A further fixed ramp connects the church with the halls, and a portable ramp is available for access to the halls from the car park or from the path in front of the halls. One toilet is adapted for use by wheelchair users.

St Andrew’s allows wine to be served on the premises with a meal or substantial refreshements. No other alcoholic drinks may be consumed in the church or halls. Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the premises.

St Andrew’s reserves the right to accept bookings only from organisations and individuals whose views are sympathetic to its Christian ethos and values.
